What this covers

This policy describes what 3GN Cloud collects when you use the site, why it is collected, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to the site and to the accounts on it.

What you give us

You hand over information by using an account. That is:

  • Your email address and a password, which is stored only as a hash. Signing in with Google or Facebook gives us the email address and display name that provider returns, and no password.
  • A display name, a username, and anything you add to your profile.
  • What you post: threads, replies, direct messages, battle entries and the notes on them.
  • What you upload: audio files, and the titles you give them.

What the site records as you use it

Some of it is the point of the site and some of it is plumbing:

  • What you played, and for how long. This is what the weekly chart counts, and it is counted as a total across everybody rather than as a list about you.
  • What you liked, saved, followed, and which threads you have read.
  • The scores you give in a battle. These are private to you: nobody else can read your card, and results are published as a weighted average.
  • Ordinary server logs, which include an IP address and a browser string, kept so the site can be run and abuse can be traced.
  • Product analytics through PostHog, which records which pages are opened and which features are used.

Why we hold it

To run an account and keep you signed in. To show your posts and your music to other people, which is what posting them is for. To count plays into a chart. To answer email you send us. To find and stop abuse. Nothing here is sold, and nothing here is used to build advertising profiles.

Who else sees it

Three companies process data so the site can work:

  • Neon, which hosts the database.
  • Cloudflare, which stores and serves audio and images.
  • Resend, which sends the emails the site has to send — confirmation links and sign-in links.
  • PostHog, which receives product analytics.

What other people see

Your display name, username, profile, posts, uploads and battle entries are visible to anybody signed in. Your direct messages, your notifications, what you have read, what you have liked and saved, your listening history and your battle scores are not: the database enforces that per row, not only the pages that read it.

How long it is kept

Account data is kept while the account exists. Delete the account and the rows that belong to it go with it, including messages, likes, follows, listening history and battle scores. Posts you made in public conversations may remain where the conversation is, because removing one side of a thread makes the rest unreadable. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.

What you can ask for

Write to privacy@3gncloud.com and you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, a correction, or deletion of your account and its data. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to some processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. We answer these within a month.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie to keep you signed in and to remember whether you asked for a light or dark theme. There are no advertising cookies. Analytics is first-party and can be blocked without breaking anything.

Children

Accounts are for people aged 16 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to somebody younger, it is removed.

Changes

When this policy changes the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what is collected or who sees it will be announced on the site before it takes effect.
